Connecting with the future

Imagine a world in which...

Knowledge and information is valued, shared, protected, continually renewed – and enables creativity
register now
Information overload is a thing of the past, and organisations make knowledge and information flow in natural and useful ways
We use knowledge and information to make lasting positive changes in society as much as in business
Complex as KIM is, we know how to embed it in all aspects of our work and lives in relatively straightforward ways
We really know how to prevent sensitive and vital data from being lost

ebic conference 2008 – is where leaders from many sectors and countries come together to imagine the future of KIM - and to work out the practicalities of realising that future. ebic is for people from the range of disciplines who make up the KIM world - information and knowledge professionals; IT, HR and communications specialists; content and systems suppliers - anyone who contributes to strategic and effective knowledge and information management.

ebic conference 2008 is an opportunity to explore innovative ideas, build networks, and plan for the future. Stimulated by outstanding speakers, discussions with peers and a challenging programme, ebic provides a space where KIM leaders can extend their networks; and a virtual interface so that they can maintain them.

In 2008 we introduce the Social impact awards – see further details on the social impact awards page.

Connecting with the future

The theme for ebic conference 2008 is Connecting with the future. Whether exploring the future of technology, assessing the challenges of managing people or discussing new business models, speakers will be tackling the trends and drivers that are shaping the future of our organisations, markets and societies. While ebic invites us to be bold in imagining the future, delegates will come away with practical and actionable ideas for connecting with it in positive ways.

Delegates will enter a sequence of scenario-based 'worlds' and work together to develop effective KIM approaches for the future. Consolidated visions and key themes will be drawn together as a practical record to be available after the conference.

Extending networks to gain perspectives

As a strategic event, the conference will give everyone the opportunity to interact and build relationships both within the formal sessions and during a series of lively social events. Speakers are selected for their knowledge and for their ability to stimulate lively discussion. Both before and after the conference, participants will also be able to come together through an ebic social networking tool on the conference website.

Social impact awards

We are planning to offer five free delegate places to ebic Fellows - the finalists of an innovation competition held in the run up to ebic. Entrants will need to propose a novel or imaginative use of KIM tools, processes, technologies or approaches to a social objective, and we will encourage entries that relate to the ebic conference 2008 theme, 'Connecting with the future'.
